Fabric Care Guide
The proper care of bed and bath linens is important and simple. Following these steps will not only prolong the life of your linens, but will also preserve their exceptional quality.
Bedding: Change bed linens such as sheet sets every two weeks; you may prefer to change pillowcases weekly, especially if you use a lot of hair and skin care products.
Bath: Launder bath towels weekly.
QUICK TIP: Rotating bedding and bath towels increases longevity. To maintain freshness in between washes and rotations, spritz with # The Laundress Fabric Fresh Classic.
Remove old and new stains such as makeup, lotion, and body oils from towels, washcloths, and bedding with # The Laundress Stain Solution. Apply directly to the affected area(s) and launder as normal. For tougher stains, lather with water and work # The Laundress Wash & Stain Bar into the stained area.
QUICK TIP: Dinginess and yellowing is caused by dirt, oil, age, and mineral buildup. Wash and dry bedding as well as towels separately from clothing to avoid such a scenario.
Machine Wash: Bedding and bath linens are best cared for with # The Laundress Signature Detergent - formulated with surfactants, color guard, and stain fighting enzymes. Set the machine to a normal cycle, using cold to warm water to ensure optimal cleaning. Too much detergent can leave a residue of soap on your towels and make them stiff, so when in doubt, less is more.
Tumble Dry: Set dryer to low heat and low tumble dry cycle to preserve fibers, colors and elasticity. The fewer amount of time linens spend in the dryer, the better.
Bedding and bath linens should be stored, washed, and cleaned in a dry area. Since storing in plastic can cause yellowing, we recommend cotton storage bags like # The Laundress Large Zip Storage & Laundry Bag as they are breathable and protect items from moths and moisture.
When washing towels, avoid using fabric softener and dryer sheets. These products add a conditioning coat to fabrics that make your laundry feel softer, but decrease the towel's absorbency over time.
